Sounds of Silence

Have you ever noticed that, although many Aspie kids can not deal with loud sounds or a lot of sounds mixed together, they have NO IDEA how much sound THEY create? Take my middle son for example...he can not attend pep rallies at school because of the noise....but this afternoon IF HE ASKED ME 1 QUESTION, HE ASKED ME 100 QUESTIONS!!! And it doesn't matter if someone else is talking....it doesn't matter if I am talking. At one point I actually told him that I wouldn't have a problem with him asking so many questions IF he would pronounciate correctly so that I could understand WHAT IT WAS he actually had asked. Sometimes...I am still trying to figure out what he just asked me and he is already past that and asking 3 more questions.

After a LOOOONG night of questions, he was about to ask me another question when (angelic sounds) he looked at the tiredness on my face and said, "Nevermind....I will ask you tomorrow." I told him thanks and that I loved him. This was immediately followed by the older Aspie son starting to ask a question. ARGH!!

I guess I shouldn't be so put out...at least they talk to me. And in this day and age....that is a blessing. Thank you God.
