Hi Again....No We Are Not Gone...

Hi everyone!
I am sorry that it has been so long since I have written. During the months of December and January, I was working on my other blog. It is a blog that I set up for the school where I teach to journey through the seasons of Advent and Christmas. I will also be posting at that site during Lent & Easter, but it is my hope to still keep up with posts here, as well. Writing here is so healing for me...and I hope that the things I am led to write will help someone else.

So, here is an update about our Aspie Family.

Our oldest Aspie son is now a sophomore in high school. He is doing well, especially since the school has started using laptops. We knew that a lot of his frustration came from a lack of ability to organize...although we tried everything under the sun to GET him organized. He is singing in the choir, playing in the band and cantoring at church. Wonder of wonders, he is also on the wrestling team....which I first thought might not be a good idea. It has turned into an AMAZING opportunity. His coaches are VERY supportive and positive. We could not ask for a better environment. And the sport, itself, offers him great rewards. He says it is like "physical geometry...with a bit of chess mixed in."

Our middle Aspie son is now in the 6th grade. He has made great strides this year!!! As a matter of fact, he recently participated in the district wide HONOR CHORUS. This activity not only entailed a concert, but also a day-long rehearsal working on the same 4 songs for the duration. He had his moments but was able to focus for most of the day! Now...unfortunately, those who only experience our middle son for 1 year in their classroom would not necessarily appreciate the magnitude of this accomplishment....but those who have taught him throughout his school career (music, art, computer, PE, etc.) would see how amazing it truly is. Our older son went through a "mental & emotional growth spurt" at about this same age. We are hoping that our middle son's progress is a precursor for even greater development to follow.

Our youngest son is now in kindergarten. And he is young for kindergarten. But he is doing alright. He is exhibiting some learned behavior....of course, that is his only example of how to "BE" at home. What is striking is that he does not really exhibit these things at home. hmmm....   We have started using herbal drops to help with attention. We will see.....

So....I just wanted to give you all an update to which you may reference in future posts....as I am trying to become faithful to writing again.

New pictures will be posted soon.
Take Care
