In our society today, there is a strong sense of right and wrong....meaning...to most people, "I'm right and You're wrong." We have become so disconnect from our own humanity that we have forgotten the humanity of others.
It does not have to be that way. Human history has grown out of differences...
different perspectives....different aspects....different brainstorming...
It does not always have to be RIGHT OR WRONG....
It could be POSSIBILITY......
Possible ideas...possible understandings....possible answers...
possible peace...
I think it may be that way with the life of an Aspie kid. I know that they see things in a very RIGHT OR WRONG.....BLACK AND WHITE....NO GRAY AREA kind of way, but maybe...instead of telling them that THEY are WRONG...that their IDENTITY is NOT ACCEPTABLE, then we will show them that POSSIBILITY is present in every instance.
Of course, first we would have to train society to think that way.
There is the crux of the matter....
SOCIETY DOES NOT SEE THE POSSIBILITY IN THE ASPIE PERSPECTIVE.
Maybe we could learn it from them if WE just listened more intently to possibility....
Take, for example, a recent posting on YAHOO titled, "IS YOUR CHILD GIFTED?"
(link below)
You may just find a difference in PERSPECTIVE and a difference in POSSIBILITY in reference to similarities found in both "Gifted Children" and "Aspie Kids."
