OK...so I have not been the best blogger of recent.
I know...I know...
But we have been busy dealing with life...it seems that fires have been popping up everywhere and each one needs to be put out NOW. As it is Summer Break, and I have accomplished SPRING CLEANING my house (except for the boys rooms...which scare me), I pledge to TRY to post more often.
Now, when I was a child, the only TV channel I was allowed to watch (for a LONG time) was PBS. My favorite show dealt with imagination, creativity and using the mind. Yep, you guessed it... it was Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, and it had a huge influence on how I think and my perspective of the world. Recently, I happened upon a "REMIX" of Mr. Rogers singing "THE GARDEN OF YOUR MIND". (I have added the youtube link.) This remix was made by PBS Digital using excerpts from the shows. I laughed, I cried, I wished I was a child again....and I remembered watching the show with my 2 Aspie sons. With both of them, I would sit down and reinforce exactly what Mr. Rogers taught: fairness, creativity, imagination, knowledge, discovery, curiosity, invention...... I would pray that my sons would learn to use their God given abilities for society...to open their minds to possibility...to let the seeds of knowledge grow "IN THE GARDENS OF THEIR MINDS." But as I further listened to the song, I realized that is EXACTLY what my sons did!....AS ASPIE KIDS! And who knows where that will take them. They may not fit in "normal" society....just like Mr. Roger's Neighborhood didn't fit on the "normal" channels of the TV.....but who's to say that is not all for the better. Maybe "normal" just means "everyday...like everyone or everything else." But my sons are not everyday...they are beautiful...and it is "A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD."
