"Why is the English language so confusing?
You drive on a PARKWAY
and park in a DRIVEWAY.
A ring is round....
except for a boxing ring.
And is there really any HAM in a HAMBURGER?"
Sometimes Aspie children can be profound!
Keep that in mind as I harken back to the beginnings of ALL HALLOWS EVE.
It began as the first part of a Christian Holy Day in Ireland.
The first night....darkness from wince ghouls and goblins, ghosts and all things evil walked the land... was meant to remind us of that which we can become, that which we inherently are without enlightenment through Christ.
Yet, as the sun rises on ALL SAINTS DAY, we are then reminded of that which we may achieve...light and peace with Christ in Heaven.
In a homily I heard today, it was pointed out that many modern Halloween costumes are more like royalty or even superheros....amazing creatures...yet not us. They are above us...above our humanity...above our shortcomings....
We are trying to be that which we are not....better than God made us.
Much like society tries to make Aspie kids into something they are not.
No....I am not saying that it is wrong for a little girl to dress up like a princess or a little boy to be Spiderman...I am simply saying that we are not representing ourselves clearly.
Just like the difficulty caused with the English language being to contradictory to an Aspie child, we are contradictory to how God made us. ....rather than accepting of the Grace in the creation of ourselves. He created us...and He created Aspie kids...so that we all could do His work....gifted in ways that we may not understand...but gifted none the less.
"Not as I see me...but as God sees me."
How hard it must be for Aspie kids to understand what is going on around them...with all of the
colloquialisms and irony-laced metaphors we use in our language.
If we could only say what we mean....
If we could only be who we are...
With that being said...have a GHOULISHLY good time.
Our Fall & Winter tradition season has officially started.
Cookies were baked this afternoon and
we now have 5 carved pumpkins...one for each member of the family...
as we do each year.
I will post a picture if I have time.
