Have you ever misplaced your keys...only to find them exactly where you thought they were in the first place? I know I have...especially when we are running late in the morning and everyone is waiting in the car.
FRUSTRATING.....
Very often we miss things that are hidden in plain sight. We are too busy or our minds are too full of other concerns to see that which is evident. But our Aspie kids tend to see EXACTLY what is in PLAIN SIGHT. Their minds have such a capacity for "seeing" or "understanding"....we just have trouble seeing things as THEY do. I can not tell you how many times I think one of our Aspie sons is not paying attention to the world around them, only to be completely take off guard by a statement he makes encompassing the entire circumstance...usually with a greater and deeper meaning than first thought. Their insight...that is "IN SIGHT"....their ability to see what most people are to hurried or stressed to see, can be quite profound.
If we were to put ourselves into their realm of consciousness or on their level of understanding, it would all make sense. And what a wonderful gift! To be able to see the things hidden in plain sight!!! Like seeing our gifted Aspie kids for who they really are, rather than as society sees them.
