Congratulations Temple Grandin

Sorry that I have not written in a while. My schedule, of late, has been filled.
Hopefully, things will settle down after another 2 weeks.

I wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate HBO for their production of the movie TEMPLE GRANDIN. Thank you for seeing the importance of this subject!!! In its simplest description, the movie tells the story of a wonderful Autism Advocate (if you do not know who Temple Grandin is, I urge you to get to know this amazing person).....but it is so much more! It actually allows the viewer to "experience" what some children on the spectrum experience, both socially and personally....even down to how these wonderful kids can literally "see" things differently.  Claire Danes plays Temple Grandin exquisitely. Last night, she received the GOLDEN GLOBE for her portrayal. The movie also received 15 Emmy nominations and 7 Emmy Awards last spring.
My husband and I have watched the movie many times and we still remark how "this scene was like our oldest son" or "that trait is our middle son". The movie highlights the fact that, as I have stated before, these kids have "different-abilities" not "disabilities. As our society and language do not lend themselves to anything beyond the "norm", we must group them in a way that will serve their needs. But, they are gifted in many ways and we MUST seek to find the giftedness of each and every child! It takes time and an amazing amount of patience, but we must learn that in this fast paced world, time and patience is a neccesity. Please take the opportunity to find giftedness....

I have posted a link to the movie web page for Temple Grandin. If you have not seen it....treat yourself and watch it. Enjoy!
